Class Description

This course examines three novels by the great eighteenth century literary genius, Jane Austen. We will read one early text, Lady Susan; one mid-career text, Pride and Prejudice; and Austen's final completed novel, Persuasion. In our discussions we will trace Austen's development as a novelist in both her themes and literary style. Penguin Classics are always good editions, but any reputable edition will work.
