Ukraine: 1938-2025, S1

with Marianne LoGerfo

Class Description

Ukraine: The Forging of a People, 1938-2025 S1 What was Ukraine's role in the Holocaust and World War II? What was the political fallout of the Chernobyl disaster? Why did Ukraine give up its nuclear arsenal? What were the links between post-war corruption and the fight for independence? Why did Putin escalate from manipulation to invasion and what does he ultimately want? As we search for answers, we'll meet journalists, historians, storytellers and poets, view maps and timelines, and discover unforgettable documentary and feature films. And we'll watch together as Ukraine's history unfolds right now in real time. Our class is also offered on zoom on Thursdays, 10:30 to noon. Please sign up for only one of the classes, but feel free to attend either session as your schedule permits. A recording of the zoom class is sent out each week. Course books will be available for $17 in the parking lot of the Lifetime Learning Center from 10:30 to noon on Friday, March 28, and in the Center office.
